TOP 5 >> SUZ P from Ç.R.Å.Ç.K on Vimeo.
Top 5 is becoming a nomadic series, mainly because it comes about more sporadically than I would like. Although now I’m starting tot hink this is one of it’s many charms. Regardless allow me to welcome the second female in the series. The wonderful SUZ P long time friend and multi-talented mixed medium artist. This is here Top 5
Video #1
Marina Abramovic and Ulay: Light / Dark
‘In a given space
We kneel, face to face.
Our faces are lit by two strong lamps.
Alternately, we slap each other’s face until one of us stops.’
I watched the Marina Abramovic documentary earlier this year and it blew my mind. I’m particularly interested in her earlier work with Ulay, her long term lover and collaborator. This piece seems to test the limits of theirs bodies and relationship.
Video #2
Brenmar – Temperature Raising
“This video and song combination makes everything feel amazing.”
Video #3
Suzannah Pettigrew: Generation Celebration – Jenny
“The series of ‘Generation Celebration’ films are an abstract interpretation of current communication and explores my generation’s obsession with celebrating ourselves and each other through virtual platforms.
Popping party poppers in this format is the personification of the like, retweet, reblog culture. The re-enacted performance emphasizes the repetitive nature of celebratory communication. All the films are made on a video recording feature on my computer as an encompassing creative process which reflects that of the subject matter.”
Video 4
Jean Cocteau: La sang d’un poete (Blood of a Poet)
“This is an incredible surreal visual delight. Worth a full watch for the mirror scene and Lee Miller as a talking statue. ”
Video 5
Twigs: Ache (Visuals by Grace Ladoja)
“Twigs is making the most exciting music I’ve heard in forever. The accompanying video, directed by Grace Ladoja, creates such a powerful visual it gave me goosebumps the first time I saw it.”
Massive thanks to Suz for coming through on this top 5. Be sure to check out here work and upcoming shows. HERE
