I guess I’m gonna go a bit hamster on this one. A$AP Rocky as JFK and Lana Del Rey as Jackie O. Who the fuck came up with that one?! Can you imagine those cool motherfucker music types tweaking out around a long glossy table over that idea? Not in this life.
But imma take middle ground because visually I’m quite into it – especially when A$AP is shacking out at the beginning and Lana does a little bogle. Not definitely sure that white people were generally doing that in the 1960s though, especially Jackie.
The little spoken I LOVED HIM I LOVED HIM I LOVED HIM I LOVED HIM bit at the end also really appealed to my emotional poet side. Got a itsy lump in my throat and prickly eyes….waaaaah. But maybe that was just hayfever.
One massive mind fuck though…we all know it was Marilyn Monroe who sang Happy Birthday Mister President to JFK in 1962 – so why is Lana singing in the intro? Then suddenly morphs into Jackie O for the body of the video…gotta say that confused me a bit.
Also I orginally saw this video blogged as ‘feat A$AP Rocky’. I was expecting him to do a lil ditty in the middle, excitement kept heightening, but alas I never got it. He just fondled her thighs a lot.
