Moombahton invites the newest generation of top underground producers to play a game of “can you top this” with themselves. If like David Heartbreak, you have been constantly producing genre defining compositions within the sound for the 108 BPM pulsating whirlwind of the past 18 months, breaking new ground on latest M7 EP is a difficult proposition. However, in just five tracks, Heartbreak begins and advances quickly along the process of finding the creative inspiration to sustain his run at the top. Australia’s J-Trick aids the producer in giving “Valley Girls” a giggle-filled and left coast “hyphy” interpretation of tropical bass, while “Pimping” and “Bad Behavior” take the heavy dembow element to the crunkest of places. On those tracks, Heartbreak looks back to his moombah-beginnings but springs forward with new trademark intensity. “Diving” and the appropriately titled “That Heartbreak?” The champions sounds of this compilation. The former is an emotive and fitfully meandering trance meets trap bass winner while “That Heartbreak?” A multi-faceted genre roundup, everything you enjoy about Heartbreak as distilled through the producer’s latest imaginative view. M7 certainly fulfilling the number’s stereotype, a lucky gambit for the rising moombahtonista.
